Ruby Heart is a human-heart-shaped ruby about the size of a child's fist, and is possessed by a sentient being or spirit, if you will, named - of course - Ruby Heart.

Although she was created millions of years ago as the planet called Earth was forming, Ruby has chosen an Archaeologist named Dillwyn Llewellyn, her current Custodian in the 21st Century to record her adventures with previous Custodians through the generations.

The Legends of Ruby Heart begin with a trilogy that includes the adventures Ruby and her third Custodian, as well as introducing us to another sentient being - a man from another realm.

In BOOK ONE - THE KING IS BORN, Ruby introduces us to Basilikos (aka Basil), the son of one of the Wise Men who plan on taking a perilous journey across mountains and deserts to worship the "baby who will change the world forever". Basil is ordered to stay behind to watch over his Grandfather and help rule the clan. However, he discovers a conspiracy to kill his Grandfather just as Ruby warns him that his father and the baby he seeks are in mortal danger!

Josias, grandson of Basilikos of the trilogy, "The Legend Begins" must leave home after a cataclysmic event that has put his life - and the lives of others, in grave danger, should he stay. He takes with him his faithful servant, Haziel, his three cousins, Marzban, Arshad and Farbod - and the Ruby Heart.

In Daphne, north of Lake Huleh, just above the Sea of Galilee, he meets Jonathan (with and interesting connection) and his cousin, Eldad. They all go to Gamala where the second cataclysmic event begins to unfold, involving the capture of a leader of the Seditionists, plus two miraculous surgeries, the last of which spawns a possible romance.

Josias is introduced to Pliny the Elder, an author of many books of immense historical value. Pliny hires him as his personal physician. Pliny is the commander of the Roman fleet classis Misenatium based at Misenum on the west coast of Italia, at the base of Mount Somma - Vesuvius.

Josias arrives in Misenum in early summer,79 A.D.

Mongke is called back from the Timeless Realm as Archaeologist Doctor Dillwyn Llewellyn is about to discover an antient trunk in a cave in the Welsh hills near the dig on which she is working. Inside are scrolls and journals that, when translated turn out to be written by the hero of book 2 - Cataclysm. Josias, Grandson of Basilikos, of the family of Balthazar, the clan of Madjid, also known as Josias Basilikos Titus Vespasianus. The first translations tell of the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in the year 79 A.D. and of the events that follow.

Upon the death of her mother Dillwyn returns to Indiana and discovers the Ruby Heart hidden in a secret bottom of a trunk in the attic of her family home. As she holds the ruby up to the light, she sees visions and hears a woman's voice repeating the word "Vesuvius".

Remembering that a ruby heart was mentioned in the documents she had found in Wales, she decides to go to Naples, the closest large city near Mount Vesuvius.

But before she can do that, she hears on the news that Interpol has issued a Red Notice for her arrest and deportation back to England for the theft of a precious artifact - the trunk!

Little does she know the adventure on which she is about to embark - or the dangers she must face! Or who she will meet and from which other realm they might be.
